Parliamentary sovereignty - Parliamentary sovereignty or parliamentary supremacy is a concept in constitutional law that applies to some parliamentary democracies. Under parliamentary sovereignty, a legislative body has absolute sovereignty, meaning it is supreme to all other government institutions (including any executive or judicial bodies as they may exist).

Disaggregated sovereignty - Disaggregated sovereignty refers to the need for broad strategic cooperation on critical issues requiring the ceding of sovereignty from several sovereign entities to new institutions without creating a centralized authority or "government."

Transfer of the sovereignty of Hong Kong - In 1982, the governments of the United Kingdom and the People's Republic of China (PRC) initiated talks regarding the sovereignty of Hong Kong, which led to the transfer of the sovereignty of Hong Kong. In light of the increasing openness of the PRC government and economic reforms on the mainland, the then British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, sought the PRC's agreement to a continued British presence in the territory.

Sovereignty - Sovereignty (French souveraineté, from medieval latin superanus which derives from classical Latin superus "superior" or "overness"; and from the Greek concept Basileus) is the exclusive right to exercise supreme political (legislative, judicial and/or executive) authority over a geographic region, group of people or oneself - this last case being theorized by Max Stirner. Sovereignty over a nation is now generally vested in a government or other political agency, though there are still cases -historically most frequent- where it is held by an individual, notably an Absolute Monarch or a Dictator.
